We do not only strive to use clean energy, we also endeavour to use energy as efficiently as possible. In our European data centres, Our hosting provider currently run some 40,000 servers which consume between 50 and 60 Gigawatts per hour (GWh).

For years, Our hosting provider has been using energy highly economically, with less than 20 per cent heat loss - one of the best figures in the industry. As soon as the outside temperature falls below 10 degrees Celsius, they cool thier data centre using open-air coolers that work without energy-consuming compressors.

The choice of software also plays a critical role in saving electrical power. Based on Linux, Our hosting provider has developed its own operating system uses server resources efficiently, saving valuable energy.

Eco Friendly Hardware

We only use eco approved hardware and have recently reinvested into new lower power laptop computers doing away with our desktop PC`s ultimately saving energy and reducing our carbon foot print.

Why use lights when you dont need them

We have recently reduced the amount of lights used in our office by 50%. on days when team members are not in the office we reduce the lighting to that area of the office. Dont be worried if you come to meet us and our office is operating at lower light levels its meerly our commitment to saving energy.

Reduced use of paper

We only use paper when we need too. we have reduced are waste from paper products by 75% over the period of the last 2 years.

Stand By Me

After every day we turn off all equipement to save on "stand by" energy, over 30% of the energy used by a business in a 12 month period is wasted energy with computers in low power, or sleep, mode and monitors on standby. It all adds up !

Recycling programs

Paper Hat has an in-office recycling program in place. We recycle all waste where possible back into local recycling programs.
